This morning we packed our bags and said goodbye to Munich by making one last stop! We went to Pinakothek der moderne, a modern art museum. The museum included works by well known artists such as Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, and Andy Warhol, while also including many of their own German artists. Being modern art, many of the pieces were abstract in how they delivered their message, so deciphering them was a fun challenge for us! Once we saw lots of art, we hopped on the bus and made our way to Neuschwanstein castle. This picturesque castle was commissioned by King Ludwig II, a German ruler who had a love for medieval and Middle Ages art. This castle looks clean and somewhat simple in decoration on the outside, but the inside is covered in ornate paintings and carvings all styled to look like medieval art. The paintings especially resembled medieval sagas, painted to resemble Byzantine art. After exploring the castle and taking photos with the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, we hopped back on the bus and headed for Switzerland. On the way we drove through Austria, and stopped there for a fun rest stop dinner. After dinner, we got on the bus one more time, and finished our journey to Lucerne accompanied by a beautiful sunset!
